What is the Business of the Month?
Each year, the SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce honors a local business as the Business of the Month. These businesses are selected based on community engagement, Chamber involvement, personal service to others, and outstanding business achievements. In May, the Chamber and community vote on eleven nominated businesses, with the three finalists recognized at the Small Business Awards Luncheon held in the John C. Williams Auditorium.
Once the Small Business of the Year is chosen, the Chamber nominates this business to represent SouthWest Mobile County at the Annual Small Business Awards Banquet in Montgomery, in partnership with the Alabama Chambers Association and the Business Council of Alabama (BCA). Beginning in 2024, the Small Business of the Year winner will also receive a $500 grant to support their business growth.
The Annual Small Business Awards Banquet celebrates the backbone of Alabama’s communities, bringing together local business leaders and partners to highlight achievements, build connections, and set the legislative agenda for the upcoming year.
