2026 Business of the Year: Dees Pecan Company

Congratulations to our 2026 Business of the Year: Dees Pecan Company! We were proud to recognize this outstanding local business at our May Business Luncheon held on Wednesday, May 6th. Dees Pecan Company is the third SWMCC Business of the Year recipient to receive a $500.00 grant, awarded to support their continued growth, service, and impact within our community.

Since 1925, Dees Pecan Company has remained a family-owned business rooted in tradition, quality, and exceptional customer service. From their beginnings in Grand Bay, Alabama, they have grown into a beloved regional destination known for premium pecans, specialty products, gifts, and Southern hospitality. Their dedication to excellence and strong community presence continue to make them a standout business in South Alabama.

Looking ahead, the SWMCC will nominate Dees Pecan Company to compete at the state level through the Alabama Small Business Awards presented in partnership with the Business Council of Alabama (BCA). If selected as a finalist, representatives from Dees Pecan Company will be invited to attend the statewide awards ceremony in Birmingham alongside Chamber representatives. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and continued support as this exceptional business represents our community on a larger stage.

Recipient Testimonial

"Dees Pecan Company is a hidden secret to many. Most have driven by for years and are finally stopping in for the first time. They are surprised that we are doing more than cracking pecans. We are a pecan candy shop, pecan-roasted coffee shop, and gift shop tucked inside a small, historic building that feels like a step back in time. Our walls are lined with old photos of the area, and it’s become a place where people gather, look back, and share stories with us and each other. We’ve loved hearing memories from customers over the years, from folks arriving on horseback to the excitement of seeing the first automobiles come through town as well as loving stories of our founder Dewitt Dees. We’re grateful to be part of this long-standing community and look forward to serving it for another 100 years.”
