2026-2027 Program Applications: Due May 22nd
The T.A.L.L. (Tillman’s Corner Area Learning Leadership) Program is open to high-achieving high school seniors who attend school in Mobile County and are committed to developing their leadership skills. Students are selected through a competitive application process that evaluates academic performance, involvement in school and community activities, and demonstrated leadership potential. Applicants must submit a complete packet, including the application, answers to all questions (written in pen or typed on a separate sheet), three reference forms, an unofficial transcript, and a clear 4” x 6” headshot photograph. Selfies, group photos, or photos printed on transcripts will not be accepted. Partial packets or materials submitted via email will also be rejected.
References should be provided by teachers, counselors, pastors, employers, or community leaders who can speak to the applicant’s strengths, talents, and leadership potential. All references must answer a set of questions on a separate sheet of paper and be signed. Applicants must be available for an in-person interview as part of the selection process. Complete packets must be submitted by the stated deadline, and students are expected to fully commit to attendance, service projects, and program activities throughout the eight-month program. Completion of T.A.L.L. is also required for eligibility in Chamber scholarships.
Tillman's Corner Area Learning Leadership
The Southwest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce is committed to developing the next generation of leaders by making youth leadership and workforce development a top priority. The Chamber offers a Student Scholarship and Leadership Program for high school seniors known as the Tillmans Corner Area Learning Leadership (T.A.L.L.) Program.
This immersive eight-month leadership development program provides students with hands-on experiences that include community service opportunities, tours of local businesses and organizations, financial literacy education from industry experts, and civic engagement experiences such as meeting with elected officials at the Alabama State Capitol. Participants also gain exposure to higher education and leadership pathways through a visit with President Jo Bonner at the University of South Alabama, along with additional professional and educational experiences.
Applications for the T.A.L.L. Program are accepted annually between February and May. Following the application period, the top 20–25 applicants are selected for panel interviews. From those interviews, 8–12 students are chosen to participate in the program and earn the opportunity to receive a Chamber-sponsored scholarship, helping support their future educational and career goals.
